Overall Service

Our staff are trained to regard ‘your business as our business’. This means that they will get to know every aspect of your organisation from top to bottom. This applies whether you operate as a sole trader or as a limited company with a substantial corporate structure.

You will receive help at all stages of your development from start-up to build up through organic growth or acquisition. They will be there for you when you decide to retire or sell your business whether to a third party or by means of management buy out.

We will act as your financial director, accountant, company secretary, office manager, book-keeper, staff recruitment adviser or just external auditor.

Whatever you want can be provided within the basic guaranteed pattern:

• Initial Exploratory Meeting – FREE
• Additional Meetings/Services – Agreed Fee at outset
• Hotline to Partner/Client Manager/Staff – FREE
• Tax Fee Protection Arrangement

Business Start-Up
This service will enable you to ensure that no aspect of the start-up process is missed. Our remit may be to alert you to these various matters or it may be to carry them out for you. Whatever is agreed, you will be given the support you need to begin the process.

We realise that your skill will probably be one which we do not possess ourselves. However, the same will also be true in reverse and we can provide just about every business-related service you will want as you progress.

Most of the process of identifying your requirements can be dealt with at the initial meeting with you and will not therefore cost you anything to find out what you need to do.

Business Planning
Some people think that, once they are underway and the initial formalities are completed, things will run well without ongoing assistance. This is just not the case and we can offer you guidance on planning all aspects of the business operation

Consultancy
You may be able to manage the day-to-day routine of your business; however, there will be aspects which will require detailed consideration from time to time. You may also value input on a structured basis from someone who is not within your staff set up. This may be through an agreed pattern of monthly or quarterly meetings with us or attendance at board meetings. We can do all of this.

Financial Performance Review
A brief review is always provided with each set of annual or period accounts prepared for clients; however, a more expansive and detailed review is often required for a number of reasons. For instance, the directors may need to assess the present stability of their business prior to preparing future projections for borrowing purposes. Our knowledge of your business and of banking requirements enables us to prepare this in the required format

Tax Planning
The only way to mitigate tax liabilities is to plan ahead and to put in place appropriate steps to avoid unnecessary tax charges. This is obviously best done sometime before the date on which liabilities accrue and we therefore alert clients to this by contacting them at various key points during the year.

One of these key points will occur sometime before the end of your financial year. This may be an opportunity to invest in some equipment to attract capital allowances or it may be related to how remuneration is to be taken (salary or dividend).

There are also many occasions on which one-off advice may be required and you should consult us before any commitment is made.

Strategic Planning
Long term planning is often neglected because of the need to concentrate on day-to-day matters. It can be helpful, however, to take time out to consider where the business is going and whether that direction fits in with your own personal goals. Consider spending a day with us away from the business and find out how just talking about your business in depth to someone can identify a way forward for the future.

Systems Analysis
Many people believe that a systematised business is a successful business. If there is a structure to the procedures in an organisation, everyone knows how things should be done and time is saved through not having to tell them. Systems should also be subject to regular review to ensure that they meet the demands of the business. This all tends to be second nature to business advisers and we can therefore assist in documenting and reviewing your systems

Benchmarking
Apart from being good business practice, it is second nature to want to compare yourself with other similar businesses. Our information sources will enable us to do this for you and the resulting information should identify your strengths and weaknesses in relation to the opposition.

Company Secretarial
The routine of complying with company law can be tedious and our service will relieve you of this. Deadlines will be met and records kept up to date.

Book-keeping and Accounting
The cost of employing in-house staff to carry out your book-keeping and accounting can be expensive. There is often no requirement for full-time staff and our bureau service can provide all your requirements. You will have the comfort of knowing that your records are up to date and comply with all regulations. You will receive reports on performance promptly and much time can be saved in the preparation of your annual accounts.

Our staff can set up your records initially if you are just starting out in business or they can review and adjust them, if necessary, where you have been in business for some time. You will also not have the problem of ensuring that computer software is up to date nor will you have to attend to a variety of essential routines such as backing up data.

We can provide the service on your premises or at our offices with a free courier service available to collect and deliver books and records.

VAT Returns
Our book-keeping and accounting service usually includes the preparation of your VAT returns. This can be a time-consuming exercise and there is always the worry that things are not being done in accordance with the complications of VAT Regulations.

We can liaise with Customs & Excise in the event of an inspection of your records, which can be done within our offices and without the need for you to be present

Payroll
The ever-increasing complexity of employment legislation and the impact of stealth taxes on payroll preparation means that businesses need to have a significant knowledge of what is required. This can use up valuable time and it will not often be necessary to have a full-time payroll person on the premises. There is also the confidentiality aspect to consider and the process is absolutely time-critical. Staff will not take kindly to their wages not being in their bank on the due date.

Our payroll bureau will take care of all of this for you for a relatively small price and the staff will always be on hand to answer questions directed to you by your employees and to deal with last minute changes. They will also ensure that the inevitable Revenue inspection is dealt with on your behalf, often without you needing to be involved.

The submission of your annual returns to the Revenue on-line by us also qualifies you for the incentive fee offered by the Revenue.

Preparation of Sole Trader and Partnership Accounts
Even if you keep your own book-keeping records, the preparation of your accounts can be a time-consuming exercise. These can be done for you speedily and in a format which enables the figures to be quickly input to your tax return.

Our knowledge of the format of accounts required for outside agencies such as banks, contractor associations, etc. will ensure that you can always provide the figures on request.

Preparation of Statutory Company Accounts
Limited company accounts must comply with not only the Companies Act but also Accounting Standards. Our staff receive regular training to maintain their technical competence and they are assisted by information technology which is constantly updated.

Audit
Although many companies no longer have an audit requirement, it remains an important part of our work. Our experience is wide-ranging and we always seek to provide you with more than just the report required by the Companies Act. This may take the form of a management letter, detailing possible improvements to your systems or it may just be an opportunity for you to talk about your business.

Our preference is always to conduct a pre-audit review with you which gives you a clear indication of the work we intend to carry out and the information we shall require from you.

Due Diligence
This process can be required in a number of different circumstances and we are in a position to provide this service to you or to guide you through the process if your own business is subject to such an inspection for any reason.

IT Services
For many businesses, the costs involved in the IT function in their business can be significant. Our service offers a guiding hand at the very least and an all-embracing service if this is required.

We are qualified dealers in Sage products and we are able to acquire the software for you, install it, provide training in its use and set up your book-keeping and accounting system as part of the process. This all comes with the added bonus of a support system which provides you with easy access to assistance either by telephone or by a visit to your premises.

It may be that other packages are more appropriate for your needs and, if this is the case, we can provide an alternative system.

We can also offer general computer support and an assessment of your system in relation to your needs.
